Welcome to Shueyville
Today we have some exciting news. Local Prairie Senior Kayley Lacy approached the City of Shueyville council earlier this winter and asked about providing a Little Free Library. Well this sounded like a deal to replace the old dead decorative tree by the flag pole and place the Library in its place so everyone can enjoy the books young and old. The Library is located up by the Flag area at the Shueyville Community Center where its well-lit, has sidewalk and trail access and is in walking or biking distance for many, and best of all anyone can use it…its free! It’s a replace one book/ take one book if you like so the inventory will always be new. If not Kayley understands and has a stock pile off books to add in case one just doesn’t come back. The selections are for adult and children so check it out. The Library is currently registered by the Free Little Library charter and app, so it’s recognized nationally and all expenses were paid by Kayley herself.
Kayley is a senior and will be graduating this year from Prairie and is enrolled in Iowa State this fall to pursue a major in Aerospace Engineering and minor in Metrology. FYI she can tell me the weather better than some local predictions and I’d say by the picture she does a very good job of building too. Good luck Kayley, and everyone wish her well in her college and career experiences. Thanks Kayley for your desire to help add some free reading to the City of Shueyville. |
